mt.Manaslu expedition (8163m) is the highest peak of the Gorkha massif, and the eighth highest mountain in the world. It is located about forty miles east of Annapurna, the tenth highest mountain. The mountain’s long ridges and valley glaciers offer feasible approaches from all directions, and it culminates in a peak that towers steeply above its surrounding landscape, and is a dominant feature when it is seen from afar. In terms of expedition technicality this mountain is considered one of the most dangerous Mountains in the world and often called killer Mountain. Manaslu expedition can be taken as a training expedition for Mt. Everest expedition. The name Manaslu is derived from the Sansktit word Manasa and can be roughly translated as Mountain of Spirit. It was first ascended by a Japanese expedition team in 1954 and has been always regarded as “Japanese mountain” The Manaslu Expedition trip starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Arughat, a village in Gorkha district. And then the trek follows up to Manaslu round trek surrounded with himalayas After walking for one hour we will reach Larkya glacier. To reach camp 1 it takes us another three hours from Larkya glacier. To reach in camp 2 it takes nearly six hours and this camp 2 is covered with heavy ice falls. It takes another 3-4 hours to climb from camp 2 to camp 3. This camp 3 is surrounded with beautiful peaks. Camp 3 is very cold and windy . From this camp 3 you need to climb approximately four to five hours to reach the camp 4, the area of upper snow slope and short ice bulges. You will reach the summit, your final destination of the expedition within 7-8 hours from Camp 4. From the summit of Mt. Manaslu you will enjoy beautiful peaks all around. After the summit you descend slowly .As compared to climbing, it is easier and faster to descend.
